Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

To start off strong, this site is jam-packed with scholarship opportunities for creatives of all ages. High school seniors can win a $12,500 scholarship by submitting a collection of six works to the Portfolio Scholarship. This one is broken down into two categories just for artists and writers; however, applicants of either category are expected to submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words to supplement their work. And it’s never too soon to start making summer plans—the same organization offers The Scholastic Awards Summer Scholarship Program for teens in seventh to 11th grade. Students who excel at writing and art have a chance to win a full-tuition scholarship to attend programs based on their interest area. Get started by creating your applicant portal here.

CollegeXpress has helped me explore my views on college in that "why do I wanna go to a certain school" way. It’s helped me explore the best fits in all of these outstanding choices. All these college admission counselors can access my accolades showing them how I could help their college. This whole website has helped me overcome the attitude I had before. I was scared to even approach the thought of college because it was so much. I knew it wasn’t just a few easy steps, and I panicked mostly, instead of actually trying. Without realizing it, CollegeXpress did exactly what I usually do when I panic, which is take it one step at a time. With college I forget that because it’s more than just a small to-do list, but this website was really helpful and overall amazing. So thank you!

I never would have found the college I plan on attending without CollegeXpress! I've always been a person of ambition and have been dreaming of studying and working on my passion for law, legal studies, and political science. Washington College is where I plan on pursuing my career. My journey with my education has been difficult, and oftentimes, I was told I would never amount to much, but now I'm dual enrolled at Caroll Community College and have had experience in the fields I am dedicated to. Without the help of CollegeXpress (even in its early days), I would never have found Washington College and the information I need to apply and become a part of their community.
